Manga Contest - New for 2007
Manga artists, do you want a chance to show off your storytelling as well as your art? Nows your chance, with the first Anime North Manga Contest. The winning entry will appear inside our Program Book and receive a free table in the Artist Alley (or a full refund for an already purchased table).
Rules:
Entry must be 4 pages in length. Pages should be scaled for 8 X 10 booklet in black & white. You may include one cover page in colour, that does not count towards the page total, but it is not required.
Must be suitable for all ages. No hentai, violence, foul language or disturbing images.
Our Mascot, Hoppouno Momiji must appear at least once. Original characters the artist owns or has permission in writing of the copyright holder to use are allowed. Familiar copyright anime characters are not allowed without written permission.
The subject of the entry should be one of the following topics:
o Introduction to Anime & Manga
o Anime North Survival Guide
o Canada Explained to Visiting Otaku.
You do not have to use a title. Other topics that fit the theme of informing con attendees about the who, what, where of Anime North can be used (ie special kinds of anime, what voice actors do, cosplay groups or an issue like glomping, etc.) but you must contact contest organizers for approval before submitting your entry.
Your entry can be serious or funny, be as creative and entertaining as you want but you must make an effort to be accurate. Entries that are confusing or misleading may lose points with the judges or be disqualified. Info about Anime North is available on our website and in Program Books from past years.
Artists may submit a maximum of 2 (two) entries. Pages must be numbered 1/4, 2/4 etc. and labeled with the artists name.
There are three ways to submit it to us:
1.
Post your artwork to your own website. You can use any website you want as long as it can be accessed. Most ISPs include online space with your account, or you can use a picture hosting service like Deviant Arts or Photobucket. Send us an e.mail with MANGA CONTEST in the subject line. You must include your real name, nickname (if you use one for your art) and an address or phone number at which you can be reached. This is the most effective way if you want to submit a very large, high resolution file.
2.
Attach an electronic copy of your artwork in .jpeg format, no larger than 200kb to an e.mail with you real name, nickname (if you use one for your art) and an e.mail address or phone number at which you can be reached. Send it to artcontest@animenorth.com with MANGA CONTEST in the subject line.
3.
If you can not do either of these, you can mail an 81/2 X 11" colour photocopy (DO NOT SEND YOUR ORIGINAL ART)
to:
Anime North
P.O. Box 86020
670 Bloor St. W.
Toronto, ON,

All entries must be received by April 20, 2007.
Winner will be decided by the organizing committee of Anime North. We reserve the right to withhold publishing any entry we deem unsuitable for technical or artistic reasons, prizes will not be affected. All decisions are final.
