I have no idea how many people were there this year but even if they had 20000 people at 50 bucks a pop that is $1000000. Also all the dealer booths must bring in a bunch of money. So I wouldn't think money is a big issue either.
I just want to see a real jpop artist from Japan come to the Con. Back when Kotoko came in 2006 my buddy and I were already familiar with Kotoko before hand but we really started listening to her more and more because of the Con.. The best thing about having jpop artist coming to the Con is discovering new music. I really hope next year they get it right.

ToshiyAki: If you haven't heard some of the bands I listed you should definitely check them out especially Kotoko, Bonnie Pink and Aikawa Nanase. Look up Kotoko - Asura on youtube. One of my favourite tunes by her, as well off my favorite album. The album is Hane and another great album is Glass No Kaze

@ therealrockguy: Though the list of groups you have there besides Puffy AmiYumi, Utada, and Morning Musume, i haven't heard of.

some of the ones I think AN should get that aren't too big (Venue size is important) and would perform are:

LM.C
An Cafe (Ok theyre big XD but still, they perform at cons)
Monkey Majik (I have contact)
Nana Kitade

I could name a bunch more but they would be bigger bands and would need a bigger venue area.

I hear you with dial up. I use to be on dial up just a year ago, wow does it suck!!! However if you like Nana Kitade you'd definitely like Kotoko and Aikawa Nanase. If you get the opportunity check out Kotoko - Asura or Aikawa Nanase - Yume Miru Shoujo ja Irarenai
