Sorry for being late to the party! I had to clear up a few things, but here it is: Japanese Food 2009! And this year, we're changing the format to bring you a more hands on experience, with more food, fun and excitement! Yes, you read it in the Title - Iron Chef North! Or Nickle Chef North! Or Japanese Improv Chef of Steel! (yeah, we'll still need figure this out)
So, what's new? Well, this time, randomly picked attendees will steal the spotlight as they try to prepare a japanese dish in a limited amount of time! Volunteer chefs will be paired in teams of two and will be asked to prepare a simple japanese dish with provided ingredients (we will also provide the recipe, no worries). While our improv chefs are hard at work, we will entertain you with interesting tidbits on Japanese food and japanese cooking, as well as answering questions. Then, when the teams are done, attendees will be asked to taste the creations and vote on which team scored the best in terms of presentation and taste! Then, prizes will be given!!
But wait, in addition to the dishes which will be prepared live during the contest, we will also be bringing a selection of dishes that you can munch on after the contest is over!
Ok, so now that the pitch section is finished, what do you think? Any suggestions for japanese dishes/food you would like to see either done by the teams or brought for tasting? Anything you would like to see different or similar to previous years?
Anybody dying to try natto?!?
