2009 Question |

I realize that it's not quite 2009 yet, and that I may be getting a bit ahead of myself but I was just wondering if anybody knew the new requirements for
panels, and what we as panelists need to have prepared for when panelist sign-up/call to arms begins for this AN. I'd love to know in advance so I can be
certain to have any information I need for panel proposals and sign-up ready and as complete as I can have them for you guys.

They usually give you a full rundown earlier to the con. As far as suggestion goes you put an idea out there and if enough people join in on interest to run
it, it will happen. As far as prep goes, let's just say a panel with no planning or ideas of how to be run, will be a room of quiet people wondering what
to talk about for an hour.

I know that, I've done panels for two years now. But they said that the panel submission process was going to be different this year and that a full
proposal was going to be needed, which is what I was wondering about.

I have no idea myself. Sadly some panelists go into panels without any prompts and do not know enough abot the topic to have a meaningful conversation off the
top of their heads. I did have a panel that was hard for us to start because it was like the audience was scared to talk... anyway, a full proposal may include
exactly what you plan on talking about, the day and time you want the panel to be, what eqipement you need... probably all of the info you would eventually
need to give but now it could be all at once >< Let's wait and see, you can't even sign up for AN until January!

I kinda wish they'd update this, too... I have an interesting idea for a panel, and with myself included I have 2 people (LOL!) for panelists... I may have
more, I just need to talk to some people about it...
basically, if you've ever been to the Random Panel that was hosted by Dan T. the past few years, think of it like that, but with an actual topic. But still lots of cheeeeese. and mebbe some premium crackers. and dip. |

Updates happen a lot closer to AN. I don't know when the process will happen this year but check back every once and a while. Last year the panel process
got into full gear in May so...

Just a heads' up there.... Basically there are a couple of nightmarish weeks involved with getting panel descriptions for instance, and other few things we're not quite satisfied with. They are not huge problems, just annoying details causing waaaaayyyyy too much aggro for the scope of what they are. So we're working on fixing he problems. Expect that you'll have to provide a blurb with submissions..... SO if you wanted to be on the Naruto thing it would be 1) Naruto Blurb "Err, what the heck can we say about Naruto" 2) Next project Blurb "next blurb next blurb next blurb next blurb " Instead of the traditional 1) Naruto 2) Other cool thing 3) whatever Plus people will have an actual site they can log into and see what's happening to their projects. So you'd be able to see more easily what kind of schedule you're getting yourself into We might also cancel stuff that's been overdone, and some other modifications. We're still working on that... (Yes, we were supposed to do that in the hole between making the Schedule for Ganime and tyhe actual COn. That's when I got sick and The Simpsons showed up, so we had to redo the schedules a few more times) I do regret the delay. and again, don't take my word (unless it's about what happenned to me ) for gospell yet. We are still working on it, and none of this is anywhere close to official until we publish the new things.

Oooooooh now you'll be spending the time combining the blurbs about the Panels >< and yes, I myself do not plan to sign up for panels that have been
running for a long long time (such as censorship - way to overdone) and to sign for for some that are new, havn't been running for years, and havn't
been run for a while. Though having our website seems like a bit too much >< You spoil us.

Crownowa wrote:Actually, we're working on US not having to come up with the [censored] Blurbs... And picking one submitted out of 4 is much easier. But the panelists are still responsible for actually getting their acts together and choosing themselves. The "We can pick some of it" is just a back-up plan to cut down the aggro. As to the spoliing, please thank XWayfarer for the ideas, and Gryvon for the rethinking and Implementation of it.

Oooooooooooooooh~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ so we can congregate on our websites and work on our final blurbs and stuff? At least this indicates which panellists are
more committed to their cause -- I quite dislike when they do not participate in the pre-AN stuf (like getting in touch with their fellow panellists). What
happens during AN is another story but yes this is an indicator~ Fingers, what else have you let others get away with with your "Sure, go ahead" xD

Crownowa wrote:Shhhh, it's secrets We actually have a great team, and pretty good communications. But we're still weedwhacking the system, not worried about content yet. Much I'd rather panelists schemed a lot pre-AN, but as long as they show up with stuff to say, I'm not gonna stomp. Besides, they should learn that a bit of sceming avoids bad duplication of effort I remember trying to come up with a list of qualifying movies for a "Last year's SF movies" and being disappointed with my result after hours of work, to see that the next guy over managed to come up with a Yummy of a list in quitiplicate. It's good to have redundency, but task division is also cool.

I like being able to come to a panel and discuss things from the top of my head... but I have yet to do a panel by myself and see if it works there
