I'd just like to remind everyone that the deadline is tomorrow, so get your videos in the mail!
We are accepting online submissions until midnight tomorrow (that is 12:00am April 2). Mailed submissions must be postmarked by tomorrow (April 1). Good luck, everyone! |

I JUST sent my email, my clock said 11:59 when the email went out with link and pdf attachment... so hopefully it got
to them within the 60 seconds I had...
Note to self... don't cut it so close next year! |

Well, my video has been sent away. Let's hope there are no issues with the email, and knowing my luck, there will be a delivery error or some such.

We received 54 competitive entries.
Challenge: 10 Novice: 14 Open: 30 Novice is waay down. I wonder if this is the start of a trend or a blip. Disqualified videos will not be shown. Videos ruled ineligible to compete will be shown in the Exhibition block, which will run earlier Friday evening. |

Can we inquire as to how many videos ended up getting DQ'd? Could that be the reason Novice is so low this time around?
I am actually rather surprised at the numbers for Novice. We had nearly the same amount in Novice and Open last year. I would be curious why the numbers dropped so much, it's not like the rules changed oh so much as to force people to either DQ or not get a video made. I know that I moved up to Open this year, so that at least accounts for one less Novice entry based on last years contestants.

I don't think I'm going to release that info at this time.
As for the Novice situation: I have a few theories. Three people moved up to Open. Many new video creators may be by-passing the con circuit by posting their videos online. Last year, we had 8 DQ's and it was announced publically. Perhaps it discouraged some novices this year. I'd be curious to hear what other people think. |
