10. Halko Momoi. Period. I hope she comes back. Next year is probably too much, but having her again for AN 2010 would be nice!

I found the liberalness of the con refreshing, and the lack of cosplay police oh so liberating. |

It was a great con, however, due to personal issues, it was less than super enjoyable for me |

If I had the chance to see more, I might be able to appreciate the con a lot more, due to personal issues I was excluded by most activities, and was only able to attend certain activities, such as the Nomonoichi, the DBZ movie [[Along with Shinchan]], The J-pop dance, The Dealers Room, The Crossplay 101 panel, and the manga library, I am sadden by the fact that I was pulled away by most fun activities.

It was a blast, as usual, but a couple of things bugged me this year.
1) Inconsistency in the schedule. Ambrosia I was supposed to have Anime Jeopardy at 11 on Sunday, yet the schedule also shows it as having the Elfen Lied panel at the same time under the room specific listings. Also, the Smash Bros. tournament is listed as being from 1-4 Saturday on the grid, but 12 - 3 on the games schedule. I don't think it is too much to ask to have someone cross-reference the multiple listings for consistency. On a side note, I'm so, so sorry to the two girls who I told that the Elfen Lied panel would not happen. It turns out I ran it after all, and it sucked to see how disappointed you were when I told you it probably wouldn't take place. 2) It seems this year that there was less anime variety, and some shows got ridiculous amounts of play time. As a case in point, Mai Otome was shown for 6 hours, xxxHolic for 5, and Digi Charat Nyo for 3. Last year, only one show got over 2 hours of play, and that was Rozen Maiden with 4. Maybe there isn't as much to show (possibly some fallout from Geneon), but geez, that's a lot of time devoted for only a few shows. I'm not saying that these shows are necessarily bad, but I would like more variety, and given that they had multiple time slots, I can assume that the same episodes were shown multiple times. 3) It seemed to me that dealers would be missing volume 6 of whatever manga I wanted to buy. Maybe it was just me. Otherwise, like I said, the con was a blast. I really hope the Twelve Kingdoms panelists come back (if the panel runs again), because the panel was awesome (like last year). Isis and her crew really know their stuff and know how to get the audience involved with the discussions. I'm glad the fansub panel ran really well (I was a panelist), because that was my first and I was kinda nervous about how it would go. Full con report to come, although probably posted on CTRL-A's forum. I'd give the con a 7. Want to run a Touhou panel for 2009, who's with me? |

Probably a 6.
The cosplay atmosphere really wasn't there this year. Maybe it was just me, but my other friends who cosplayed also noticed as well. No one seemed to be taking pictures unless someone else stopped a person for a picture or there was a photo shoot. Also the percentage of people cosplaying seemed a lot less than compared to other years, which really through me off cause usually you have to look hard to find someone not cosplaying instead of someone cosplaying. Also it was really hard to find some events, like the cosplay conga line, I couldn't figure out where or when that was starting only to end up walking past it, and the hour long delay for the Momji brunch was not cool considering I had to leave a panel half way through for it only to find out that it was delayed an hour. Other than that, it wasn't a bad con, but the other years where a lot better. |

7, I was treated very poorly by the staff and was threatened by them, I've been to many cons and never been bitten so badly by con ops before. As one who
DOESN'T break rules or act like an @$$ at cons. I felt very distraught.
But I met so many amazing people and got so many compliments for my costumes, it was probably one of my favirote cons anyway. I want to come back in a couple years, when I can afford it again |
