This is news to me.
I just checked the J-Rave page and it hasn't been amended to state this.
I also checked the main page, and saw nothing about this.
Could you please post a link to where you read this?

It's in the .pdf file "Things_all_must_know[1]", downloadable/linked from the Anime North homepage; underneath all the registration info at the
top, it says: "For an overview of Anime North 2008, including events, times, locations, policies, and registration information, please click here".
C&P from the file itself: "In order to attend the Halko Momoi concert, J-Rave Dance, or the Masquerade, it is required that attendees obtain wristbands in order to be guaranteed entrance to these events. While these events are free, this procedure is necessary to ensure that we do not exceed the capacity of the rooms used, and
to spare the attendee from possibly lining-up in advance for any of these events and not gaining entry due to the demand[. . . ]
o Friday: 6 PM to 8 PM for J-Rave Dance." That's the only time slot listed for rave wristband pick-up that I can see, although I may have misread. |

Okay, I found it - that little tiny "here". I should have looked because it wasn't there before.
No, I don't know anything more than you do. The time makes sense for handing them out, though - the rave starts at 9pm. If it's to control access because of fire regulations, then there'll be a finite number of wristbands based on whatever is posted in that specific room. I checked the hotel floor plan, and there's nothing stating maximum capacity for this kind of event. "Reception", as in wedding, states 200 for the double room we should have. Sorry, but that's what I know right now. I'll try and find out more info and get back to you. |

Thanks for the quick reply, and the info. The timeslot does make perfect sense; I was just wondering if there would be any way of getting a wristband if one is
in the skit competition, as I'd really like to go to this event! If not, though, there's always next year. I've emailed programming about it;
hopefully, between them and you, I'll get an answer. =)
A new question: in your original post you stated the rave would be from 11-2am, as there was something scheduled from 9pm-11pm in the same room. The J-Rave page the site says this as well. Just now, however, you said it started at 9. Has it been moved forward? Thanks again for all your help! |

Yeah, I saw that there would be wristbands at the Thursday night pre-reg too. Sadly, I can't make it to Toronto for Thursday night, and my hotel's only
booked Fri-Sat night, so that rules that pick-up time out as well (for me at least). Ah well. I hope everybody who does get a chance to go has a great time!
Thanks once again; you've been a great help. |

Oh, and about attendance:
I heard back from one of the execs, and there will be at least 200 wristbands available. There may be more; I'll let you know. |

All right; I'l tell my friends to get there early if they want to get one, 'cause I don't know how long 200 will last at an event as big as AN! I think I may have found a way to get around my scheduling conflict, so hopefully, I'll be able to get a wristband and join in the fun. Thanks once again for the info; it's been a great help. |

From what I've heard, and dealing with the safety of this event. 300 admissions (in whatever form decided) will be released, in anticipations of those who
are just taking tickets to keep their options open. Also for those who aren't staying for the entirety of the event.
HOWEVER, only 180 people will be allowed into the small boardroom, as 200 is the hotels LEGAL limit. This is because there will be about a few SpecOps within the event, making sure the event is safe, and to leave that gap open, so that we're not completely maximizing the space of the entire boardroom. I mean, who wants to attend a rave where you don't even have enough room to rave in? If there are any more ConGuests who would like to enter the rave once the limit is hit, they would have to wait in a lineup at the entrance for people to come out for a breather or water, and if THOSE guests would like to enter again, they would have to wait their turn to be one of the 180 guests within the room. This stands as our means of operations, though in terms of admissions available, that will be finalized by The Keith & Colonel Gary Show. (Although final, this can be subjected to change, up until the night of Wednesday May 22, 2008. Though by no means drastically)

Please don't make statements like that without doing your homework. The Fire Marshall's capacity of the Mississauga room where the rave is being held
is 300, and Spec Ops does not make the decisions about how many people will or will not be allowed entry, Programming does. 280 wristbands are being given out
and all of those people will be entitled to enter the rave barring unforeseen circumstances.
